The majority of the route is on the Ganaraska Hiking Trail which takes teams through over a dozen sections (tracts) of the Simcoe County Forest. Teams will also walk a section of the route through the Copeland Forest which will have them depart from checkpoint at the Heights of Horseshoe, and then loop back to the same location for Checkpoint 4. The finish includes a section through the Scout Valley hiking trail system and along the Simcoe Rail Trail.
