Oxfam Trailwalker Canada 2010 hikers go the distance! 

118 teams along with their support crews, took off from Snow Valley Ski Resort at 9:00 am Friday morning, July 23rd along the Ganaraska trail system. The skies may have been grey, but the pre-event rain showers didn't dampen spirits. Some teams ran, others walked at a brisk pace, others settled in at a steady stride to measure their energies for the 100 km to come!

Completing the 100km journey on foot in 48 hours or less, as a team of 4 is a physical and mental challenge! Each team must start together, stick together and finish together. The event is not just physically demanding, but it is also a fundraising challenge in support of Oxfam's work to end poverty and injustice around the world.

Three members of Team Trendelburnz crossed the finish line in Orillia's Tudhope park in just over 18 hrs, having run a good part of the way, but their fourth member was unable to finish the course.  Team Endure was the first complete team across the finish -- in the wee hours of the morning -- 19 hrs and 27 minutes after departing Snow Valley.

It was another day later at 5:30 in the morning, Sunday, July 25, when the final team to finish reached their welcome destination!

Congratulations to all the Teams and their trusty support crews!  Thank you for making Oxfam Trailwalker 2010 a big success!
